"Second Soka Gakkai president Josei Toda said that another name for human revolution is attaining Buddhahood. In Nichiren Buddhism, attaining Buddhahood is discovering the greatness of our life and others'. "Human revolution is the great cause and great effect of our practice. We make the cause for human revolution when we transcend a given situation by saying 'I will challenge this for the sake of my growth as a Bodhisattva of the Earth.' Conversely, the effect of human revolution is experienced as we continue our practice day by day and realize that we have naturally deepened our compassion and profoundly changed our character. Its scope is huge, yet it is necessary that each individual do this for the attainment of kosen-rufu. In fact, our individual human revolution, collectively, is kosen-rufu."
SGI President Ikeda says: "Come rain or shine, our women's division members have worked with sincerity, dedication and passionate commitment to realize kosen-rufu, the noblest ideal of all. They strive earnestly to live their lives with their feet always solidly on the ground. They are the most precious of treasures of their communities and of the Soka Gakkai. The successive victories we have achieved to date are primarily due to the valiant struggles of our women's division members. This is indisputable. "All the efforts you make for kosen-rufu implant good fortune and benefit in your lives -- good fortune and benefit that will ensure ever-increasing prosperity not only for yourselves but also for your children and their children down through the generations. This is an unchanging Buddhist formula.
SGI President Ikeda says: "Nichiren Daishonin writes, 'The greater the hardships befalling him, the greater the delight [the votary of the Lotus Sutra] feels, because of his strong faith' ("The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, p. 33). No matter what waves may buffet us, it is important that we challenge them head-on with fortitude and still more fortitude. It is crucial that we do not run away from our problems, or give in to cowardice. Ultimately, the only way to victory is for us to grow strong.
