My name is Robiwn. I took faith in Gohonzon 33 years ago, in 1969 together with my parent, whom my father who is suffering from some heart illness. I just follow and pray.
I also participated in the SGM 1st Cultural Show held at Peng Wah School in Penang. I performed ‘Yer Kuan Wu’ and Sin Chian Wu’. After that, my chanting slow down and later I stop completely.
In between, I pray occasionally and at times, I really pray when my father had stroke. When my dad recovered slightly, I will stop praying again thinking that he is already ok. My faith and prayers are seasonal.
I have worked in several big company from dispatch boy to supervisor, to sales executive, to branch manager, to area manager, to regional manager and finally to director. I am quite successful in my work life but my personal life is horrible. All company that I work, they closed down after 2 years, 1 year or 10 months. In between this transition, I used to pray and within a short period of time, I got offered to work in another company with a higher pay too. My work life has been an ongoing process of running round in circle.
When the last company closed down, I began to face problem one after another. I seems to be unable to get any more offer. I realized then, I was already reaching the age of forties. It will be hard to get a job when you reach middle age. I had a family to feed, I had no money so, the thoughts of suicide came into my mind.
I then proceed to Community Centre everyday to pray for hours. Sometimes, more than 5 hours but still no changes, no improvement after 6 months. I continue praying as there was no other options for me.
One day, I met one leader in Community Centre and that’s the moment, my life changes for the better. The leader advised me that faith, practice and study is very important. I hardly pray in my house. I only do daimoku and I don’t do gongyo. I never read and study Buddhism. I only chant daimoku in Community Centre. The guidance which I received from that leader is immeasurably the best benefit to me. Pray for wisdom and encouragement to ‘beng tui’ (face) everyday and to change our ‘sok mia’ (karma). I followed every guidance and start doing gongyo, shakubuku, attending all activities like discussion meeting, daimoku meeting, kosenrufu, gosho study, etc.
Now, I do gongyo every morning and evening in my house. My two daughters also started doing gongyo. I now have a wonderful and happy family. My business is improving and there are two more new investors interested in my company. I have another new business partner/investor ready to start, which I put on-hold and under consideration.
In addition, sincerely from the bottom of my heart, I wish to thanked Mr. Jay Shanker for the invaluable assistance he has given me. He is also my buddhist god.
My only regret is that I had lost 20 over years of my youth. According to buddhism, if we have no ‘luck’(fortune) or ‘hock yoon’ whatever we do, we only end up hitting walls.
Today, I come and talk about my experience, meaning, I swear in front of the gohonzon that I will never repeat the same silly mistakes again and that I will continue to strive for kosenrufu and pray for the happiness and everybody’s health. If we shakubuku and take care of people, gohonzon will take care of our family, rest assured!
Similar experience of mine can be found in Terry's (USA Gakkai Online) site 'Finding a Full Practice in Malaysia' but with a slightly different version.
